Sam Caplan currently serves as the Vice President of Talent Relations for Bellator Fighting Championships. He has helped match and promote shows all over the continental United States as well as Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Holland, and Bulgaria.
A devout fan of Bruce Lee, Caplan began studying Long Fist Shaolin Kung Fu under Master Jeong Jeon Hoon in Elkins Park, PA in 2001. He later transitioned to contemporary martial arts, training under the watchful eye of Master Brad Daddis and Daddis Fight Camps since 2004.
After participating in several low-level amateur bouts early in his training, Caplan decided his future was outside the cage and combined his love of MMA and sports writing and created the popular and influential MMA website FiveOuncesOfPain.com, which he sold to Rebellion Online Media in 2010.
Prior to working for Bellator, Caplan worked for M-1 Global, the Titan Fighting Championships, and SHOWTIME Networks/CBS, where he was given the honor of helping produce the first-ever Mixed Martial Arts event telecast live on primetime network TV.
In 2012, Sam has already been involved with 3 Bellator events in Atlantic City with one more scheduled there this year. Bellator 74 included Marius Zaromskis vs. Nordine Taleb. Bellator 68 included Marcos Galvao vs. Travis Marx and Bellator 65 included Eduardo Dantas vs. Zack Makovsky.
Sam also brought fights such as Giedrius Karavackas vs. LeVon Maynard, Vitor Vianna vs. Bryan Baker, Michael Chandler vs. Patricky Pitbull and Alexander Shlemenko vs. Brett Cooper to Atlantic City.
