David Weinberg

David Weinberg, a 30-year member of The Press of Atlantic City's sports department, began covering mixed martial arts in 2004, when the UFC staged a card at Boardwalk Hall featuring former standouts such as Tito Ortiz and Matt Hughes. Over the years, he has chronicled the sport's growth in the Atlantic City area with stories about the UFC, Ring of Combat and Vineland-based Cage Fury Fighting Championships, as well as features on MMA's top fighters, officials, promoters, and referees.
Some of his articles in the MMA field included stories on Frankie Edgar, Kimbo Slice, Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller, as well as local MMA fighters such as Jeff Lentz, Mike Wilcox and Tim Williams, plus referee Gasper Oliver and judge Jose Tabora.
Earlier this year, Weinberg was also selected for induction into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.
Weinberg, 57, is a graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School and Appalachian State University (N.C.). He resides in North Cape May with his wife of 33 years, Karen. The couple also has two children, Ashley and Kyle, and are about to become grandparents for the first time in February.
